Due to impending construction of the southern portion of the ring road the parking normally available on the west side of the crossing of 22X at 37th St. S.W. No longer exists. Therefore with the full consent of the church we have moved our start and parking location approximately 1 kilometre west. The Red Deer Lake United Church has ample parking and has warmly welcomed us to park on their property. We begin by riding east to the junction of 37th St. ( north )/ 773 SR (south) and highway 22X. Then turning right and riding south including a right jog onto 226 Ave. W. before turning left onto 112th St. S.W. completing the first arm to the t- intersection at SR 549 and returning to the corner of 226 Ave. W. There we make a left turn to proceed up and over the road to Nepal. If you turn around at the bottom stop sign located at RR 192 you will come back just short of 1000 meters of climbing. To complete the plus challenge continue to ride west across highway 22 and climb the steep grade up to where there is a right turn towards Priddis. Don't turn, rather turn around and return to the parking lot via the road to Nepal. See map link for route and elevation details (Please note the first and finishing arm along highway 22X is not yet on the map but it is a relatively flat portion of the ride. This is a training ride with lots of hill climbs that are better attempted by riding within your own capabilities rather than trying to stay with a stronger rider. Ideally we have one or more riding companions that are close to our own fitness levels.
