We will stay in roofed accommodation at hostels or hotels. This ride is rated intermediate/advanced ride as there are some hilly areas and the distance to be covered is 40 to 70 kilometers per day. Most of the climbing is short bursts but sometimes the hills are quite steep. As well for many riders this is the 1st ride of the season making some of the climbs tiring. This trip can be your incentive to keep your fitness through the winter.

The route will run up the coast from Horseshoe Bay to Lund, then cross the Strait of Georgia using BC ferries from Powell River to Comox on Vancouver Island. From Comox, we will explore south, finishing in Nanaimo and Gabriola Island, before returning back to Horseshoe Bay.

Registrants will receive a detailed itinerary package and maps.

Riders will be allowed to bring a small cooler as part of their luggage

The support vehicle will transport a limited number of bikes to and from Vancouver. Please arrange in advance.

The support vehicle will drive to Vancouver on Thursday April 19 prior to the trips departure on Friday and Sandra will stay at the Horseshoe Bay Motel in Horseshoe Bay, a 2 block walk from the ferry terminal…very convenient.

If you wish to make a reservation Thursday April 19 (your cost), contact the Horseshoe Bay Motel at: Tel: 604-921-7454  Fax: 604-921-7464 E-MAIL: or The room rate is $124.30.00 including tax for a standard room with either a single queen bed or 2 double beds in a room, single or double occupancy. Please quote Sandra Kunzel or the Elbow Valley Cycle Club.

- When a minimum group size appears, this is to let you know that the event will be cancelled with refunds to those who have already paid, if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. Sandra's Spin on Refunds and Cancellations:
I understand that sometimes life gets in the way of the things we want to do, however coordinating a multi-day event requires that I have firm numbers for reservations & budgeting.  Hence my cancellation policy is thus: Should you pay you deposit by cheque and cancel your registration prior to your deposit being processed by the EVCC, your cheque will be destroyed and no fee charged. Once your deposit (either cheque or online payment) has been processed by the EVCC, a cancellation fee of $25 will be deducted from your refund, regardless of when you cancel up to 45 days from the tour departure. Up to 45 days prior to tour departure – Full refund minus the $25 cancellation fee.
44 - 30 days prior to tour departure – 50% refund. This is due to fixed costs that have been incurred on your behalf. Less than 30 days, no refund. Members may be granted a full or partial refund if cancellation is deemed for exceptional reasons, on a case by case basis.
If a replacement registrant is found to take your seat, then you will receive a full refund minus the $25 cancellation fee.
The EVCC is not responsible for expenses that are incurred by a member preparing for a trip that is canceled regardless if the trip is canceled by the member, coordinator or executive. Costs such as airline tickets, costs incurred due to travel delays, flight cancellations or illness and related costs incurred by a member but not included in the EVCC trip fee are not refundable by the EVCC. Members are advised to purchase their own travel cancellation insurance.
