Itinerary:
This is a variation on another back country adventure that I've done before in this area. Like many trips around there, we will probably not see anyone else all day! It is a real back country ride as there are no signs or official trails for quite a bit of the route. Everyone is required to stay fairly close together in some sections.

We will be meet at Highwood Junction, (Intersection of Hwy 40, Hwy 541, and SR 940), then drive a little ways to the start point.
This ride is about 25-30 kmís and for the most part not difficult technically Ė smoother double track and a real fun singletack on the way out!.

We will be not be going at a fast pace, but PLEASE BE SURE YOU ARE CAPABLE OF RIDING 30 kmís WITH 400m + ELEVATION GAIN.

This loop ride starts with a couple kmís of gravel and then west up Etherington Creek. After a few km's we turn north towards Baril Creek. From there we will go up the Baril Creek trail to James Lake. The Baril Creek trail from there back to the starting point is a fun singletrack trail that takes us back right to the vehicles.

There are NO major water crossings, but there are 2 creeks which will surely require fording.
