SHUSWAP HUB AND SPOKE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Riding: The Shuswap area presents lovely riding opportunities through a variety of terrain, from lakes to farmland to forests, all paved and with low volume traffic. The area offers over 1500 km of paved back roads so there are many riding options. There will be a short ride leaving the arrival and departure days of the trip and an easy and an intermediate ride planned for the other three days. Rides will leave from various locations in the region so a vehicle is required for bike and rider transport. There is a cycling map available for the region. The link to the online version of the map is not operational at this time, however GPS data is available: http://www.shuswaptrails.com/cycle.php  Paper copies of the map will be provided at the start of the ride.

 Trip Fee: Registration is $30. It includes the maps and the before dinner social hour snacks and beverages. It does not include transportation, accommodation or meals. This trip is open to EVCC members only.

 Accommodation and Meals: Accommodation for the trip is at the peaceful Sorrento Centre located on the lake, 35 km north of Salmon Arm via Highway 1.

 There is a variety of accommodation available: Standard rooms with an ensuite have two beds and are $130. Apartments are available at an increased price and the Centre also offers camping and RV sites.

 A garage for bicycle storage is also available as bikes are not allowed in rooms. It is recommended that you book your accommodation as soon as you register to ensure the greatest choice. Registration starts on April 5, 2023 and ends May 31, 2023. Late registration is subject to accommodation availability.

 A meal plan is offered. Registrants can choose between the full meal plan (recommended unless camping), which is $43 plus tax, and includes a pack your own lunch buffet, or dinners only for $22 plus tax. Alcohol is NOT served at the Centre but guests can provide their own wine or beer with dinner. There is no corkage charge.

 When booking your accommodation and meals please read the cancellation policy. There is an $23.00 booking fee for all bookings, which is included in the Sorrento Centre deposit.

 Itinerary:

 Monday, June 19

1-3 pm: Check in and map collection. Waiver to be signed if not previously done.

3:15: A 1-2 hour ride will leave from the Centre.

 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, June 20, 21, 22

One easy ride (30-50 km) and one intermediate ride (70-80 km) will leave each day. There will be a leader and changing sweeps on each ride. Rides will start from various places in the area so

a car is required for vehicle and rider transport.

 Friday, June 23

9 am: a 1-2 hour ride will be offered from the Centre before the drive home.

 Riders: Riders are expected to have a well-maintained bike and be self-sufficient. From time to time riders may need to act as sweeps as this will be a “no one left behind” trip. All registrants must be members of the EVCC.
