Mackenzie and Cranston Escarpments 42

Coordinator: Peter Bradbury

This ride, virtually all on pathways, with one hill, offers spectacular views of Calgary and the mountains.

The route starts at Carburn Park, scouts around Riverbend, Quarry Park, and Douglas Glen, and then follows the Bow river pathway on the east side of the river up onto the Mackenzie escarpment. The route loops around Cranston going to its southern edge. Lunch is at Good Earth Coffeehouse. The route returns along the Cranston escarpment, drops to the pathway on the eastern side of the Bow River, crosses the Mackenzie Bridge, and proceeds on the western side of the river. Crossing back across the river at the Eric Harvie Bridge, the ride finishes at Carburn Park where refreshments will be provided.

The ride will have regrouping at intervals, corner guiding if necessary, and a sweep. Bring lunch to eat outside if you prefer. Bring your route tracking device for more enjoyment, and the possibility of leading this ride or a good variant next year.

Location: Carburn Park. Directions: Drive east on Glenmore Trail, turn right at the 18th Street exit, right again onto Rivervalley Drive and Riverbend Drive, left onto Riverview Drive; turn right into the Carburn Park parking lot. Please arrive 15 minutes before start.
