Legacy Trail to Banff, Vermilion Lakes 54

This is a popular annual ride. The Legacy Trail starts at the Canmore Visitors’ Center and finishes in Banff. On the ride out, the route heads to the railway station on the west side of Banff, and proceeds on to the Vermilion Lakes. We have a snack at lakeside. On the return, the route borders the Bow River. We have a picnic lunch at the gazebo. We regain the Legacy Trail on the east side of Banff. The ride back on the Legacy Trail is slightly downhill and is frequently blessed with a following breeze.

The ride will have regrouping at intervals, some corner guiding in Banff, and a sweep. Bring a snack and lunch. Bring your route tracking device for more enjoyment, and the possibility of leading this ride or a good variant another time.

Location: Canmore Visitors Center. Directions: Follow Trans-Canada Hwy/AB-1 W to Bow Valley Trail/AB-1A E in Canmore. Take exit 86 from Trans-Canada Hwy/AB-1 W. Please arrive 15 minutes before start.

Notice: Many members wanted to join the ride so, today, August 19, I removed the restriction on the number of registrants. I intend nominating a second coordinator to help, along with the best sweep in the club. We can have two groups a slight distance apart for most of the ride. We will be together at the lakes and at the gazebo. The route is easy to follow, so we should have no difficulty. Peter
