Edworthy/Cochrane return, via Bearspaw and Springbank

  • Sunday, July 21, 2019
  • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Meet Edworthy parking lot, North side (hospital side where TGIM rides meet)

Registration is closed

Road Ride:  Intermediate to Advanced

Coordinator:  Jeff Dashkin

Distance:  82 km

Eleavation Gain:  700 meters

For Advanced and intermediate riders due to the pace, wind and climbing.

Average speed about 17-22kmh for the day. 700 meters of climbing. There is often a headwind to or on hwy 22, so we will pick the direction (clockwise or counter clockwise) based on that. Be comfortable riding on a shoulder with traffic. Be comfortable descending and hill climbing.

We will meet at Edworthy Park, North side parking lot (hospital side by Angels).  We will go west to Bowness Park, climb through Tuscany and 12 Mile Coulee to Bearspaw, west on 262, down through Glen Eagles, left st the first light for lunch/coffee at the amazingly good Good Earth in Cochrane (or bring your own.)  After the break it's up Hwy 22 9km (fast moving traffic) to Springbank Airport Road, east to Banff Coach Road, up the hill, back down to the start via Coach Hill. Or, if the winds favour it, we will ride the route in reverse.

Bring tire kit, enough water and food (in case there is a hearty head wind). Bring some money if you plan on lunch at the cafe.  Rear light is highly recommended.
