RIDE THE MATTAMY ROUTE – CIRCUMNAVIGATE CALGARY

This is a two-day event for which you can do one or both days, Tuesday August 20 and Wednesday, August 21.  Each day nears 100 km and most of it is on the newly build or renamed pathway system.  If you plan to do only one of the days, please register and then send a note to one of the coordinators.  The route is flexible as pathway construction and roadway construction may necessitate changes, however, we will follow the signed Rotary/Mattamy Circle Route most of the way.

Each day is a circular route and when complete we will have ridden a figure 8 on some of the best rides in the city.  Day One starts in Shouldice Park and Day Two starts in Fish Creek Park (at the bottom of Bow Bottom Trail).  For a look at the Mattamy route check out http://www.parksfdn.com/greenway/   On Day one the route back will leave the greenway south of 16thAve. N. and follow bike routes back to the Zoo and then along the Bow to Shouldice Park.  On Day Two we will leave Fish Creek and head west and then north parallel to the ring road construction, through Glenmore Park, up Signal Hill and north to Edworthy Park and Shouldice area before heading east along the Bow and then hooking into the canal pathway all the way back to the eastern edge of the city and then back on the Greenway and south past the South Calgary Hospital and down the ridge through Cranston and along the Bow to our starting point.

Just like the Greenway, our planning is a work in progress. We have ridden the route and will re-ride portions before the group ride and so, we invite you to accept the challenge of this ultimate Urban Ride.  We may divide into groups as needed and will have corner guiding in addition to the many directional sign posts along the way.

Please note:  To cancel your registration, make sure you are signed into the system, click on the "already registered" button, then click the "Cancel Registration" button.
