TGIM is a regular Monday ride led by Laurel Smith and Chris Willard. Since Laurel and Chris are in Italy for a couple weeks, I (Jeff) am going to lead Monday's ride while they are gone. Since I live in the NW and know Bearspaw better than Springbank, we are going to ride up through Tuscanny and 12 Mile Coullee, ride around Bearspaw until we hit 25 km, someone comments that its starting to get dark, or mother nature tells us to turn around (whichever comes first) then make a beeline back.
In order to minimize exposure to busy roads, we will start from Baker Park (north side of the river from Bowness Park, accessed from the ramp just north of the 85th Street bridge). We will maintain a moderate pace, in this friendly no drop ride. We will wait at tops of hills and at major turns for the group to reassemble. Be prepared for some climbing. A couple sections have more traffic along 12 Mile Coulee as we exit Tsucanny. Front and back lights are highly recommended for all road rides. There are some wonderful views on this route and the ride provides a great way to improve strength.
Please point out all road debris, potholes, gravel and signal stops and turns to other riders. No pace line or overlapping wheels please. We stop for all stop signs and red lights. The reward factor for this ride is rated high. :) See you there!
