Road Ride:  Intermediate to Advanced

Coordinator:  Jeff Dashkin

Distance:  73 km

Pace:  20-25 kph

Elevation Gain:  540 meters

So, there is now an official crossing of the RR tracks west of Cochrane. No more dealing with traffic jams getting through Hwy 22 and Hwy 1A intersection.

Meet at the WEST end of the Good Earth/Canadian Brewhouse/Garmin parking lot at 9:15.  Address is 30 Bow Street, Cochrane, but its really on Centre Street (first light at bottom of Cochrane Hill, just south of RR tracks_. Wheels roll at 9:30 sharp.

After a short warm up (as a group) through Cochrane and the bike path by the river, we will take the new, official bike path across the CPR tracks at Horse Creek road.  If traffic isn't bad, we turn west on Hwy 1A for 5km to Grand Valley Road, climb as we head north to the end of Grand Valley. (if traffic is bad, we can skip Hwy 1A and take Horse Creek instead).  On the return trip, we turn left at the stop sign and take Horse Creek Road. Watch for the detour at the end of Horse Creek, then back to Garmin/GoodEarth/Brewhouse for a post ride beverage.

Riders should be familiar with the route (please see attached map), have a well maintained road bike and be self-sufficient.  Also, not place to stop for water or snacks until we return to Cochrane.  There will be no sweep. Well, I'm riding really slow this week, so its almost like I am riding sweep.
