ROAD RIDE - LEVEL : Intermediate to Advanced

Coordinator:  Bill Stilwell

Distance:  94.4 kms

Pace:  20- 24 kph when we are on flat terrain but we have some climbing

Elevation Gain:  759 m

The ride begins at 10:30 from the Cascade Ponds parking area. See map for details. Be sure to park in the area closest to the #1 highway.

Feel free to start elsewhere perhaps at the Canmore Visitor and Information Centre to avoid the toll and enjoy the gates,  haha but we will start on time in respect of those who arrived in advance so they are ready to begin cycling at 10:30 a.m. Bring your lunch, ( additional supplies can be purchased at Castle Jct., sufficient water and all appropriate tire-changing and COVID gear.

Please review the map below and if possible download onto RWGPS app.

In short we will use the Legacy Trail to access Tunnel Mtn. Road, then cross the pedestrian bridge to ride the golf course loop coming back through town. We will stop for a short break in the town park then ride along the river until we access the Vermillion Lakes Dr. that get's us onto Heritage Trail and then onto the 1A Parkway.

Our lunch stop will be at the turn around at Castle Jct. which is where the Banff Windermere Parkway intersects with the 1A parkway. The store has drinks bars etc.

We return to Banff and use the streets to come onto the Legacy Trail and back to the parking lot.

Also please consider this a gentle reminder that we are still riding with restrictions concerning Covid - 19 agreed to when you signed on. These include maintaining physical distancing at all times and remembering not to draft since breath vapour can travel well past 2 m during our riding.
