This event for club members who are already familiar with Nordic skiing and have previous skiing experience. Both faster and slower pace levels are welcome. If necessary, we will divide into two groups: faster & slower pace and regroup at major trail intersections.

Please arrive earlier to be waxed, dressed and ready to go at 10:00am.

Parking pass:

The Kananaskis parking pass is recommended, it supports trail grooming expenses at Kananaskis and can be purchased here:

https://www.kananaskisgrooming.ca/

  1. Day pass ($10 plus processing fee) - which requires contact info, and if possible, licence plate number/province, and intended date of skiing. (Day passes can also be purchased at local ski shops in Calgary, Canmore and Kananaskis)
  2. Season pass ($50 plus processing fee) which requires contact info, and licence plate/province.

Definition of Nordic skiing:

  • The light/fast/race side of the umbrella term cross country skiing. It can be classic or skate technique. This event is for classic technique, track set only.
  • Skis: mostly waxable skis, skin skis or zero skis are okay (depending upon the snow conditions).
  • Clothing: down parkas and heavy jackets are great for before and after, but not during. Dress in light thin stretchy layers similarly to winter running or cycling with front wind protection.
  • Carry snacks and fluid in small hydration pack or belt.
