waiting for the good weather window for the week of June 5-14

to hustle up Highwood Pass before the winter gates open (winter road closure ends on June 15.)

There will be multiple route options from multiple starting locations, all leading to the summit of the highest paved road in Canada at 2,206 m. There will be multiple rides offered throughout the week leading up to the road opening on June 15.

Routes:

Pocaterra to Highwood Pass – 40 km, 700 m of climbing, easy to moderate pace
Wedge Pond to Highwood Pass – 75 km, 1,000 m of climbing, intermediate to advanced pace
Ribbon Creek to Highwood Pass – 92 km, 1,100 m of climbing, advanced to advanced+ pace
Highwood Pass from the South Gate - 76 km, 900 m of elevation, intermediate to advanced pace
Highwood Pass Gate to Gate (And Back!) - 114 km, 1,700 m of climbing, advanced to advanced+

Tailgate party: Bring your own lawn chair, blankets and snacks for physically distanced socializing after the ride.

Park Pass: Reminder! As of June 1, you must have a Kananaskis park pass to visit the park. See: https://www.alberta.ca/kananaskis-conservation-pass.aspx

COVID rules: COVID rules will require us to limit group sizes. We will set the group sizes based on the COVID restrictions in place in mid-May. We hope that restrictions may ease as vaccinations progress and other positive indicators trend in the right direction. All social distancing and other requirements will also be maintained.
