ROAD RIDE  Hill Climb training

Coordinator:  Bill Stilwell

Distance: approximately 10-12 k

Pace:  short warm up ride and then multiple climbs and descents up Range Road 25, Westridge Park Dr. Wild Rose Dr.

We will meet at Eden Brook Funeral Home and Cemetery parking lot. Use Lower Springbank Rd. turning left from Township Road 242 and then right into the large parking lot. Let's park at the northwest section near the road and well away from any buildings.

Depart at 5:30 p.m. as in wheels roll then so come early and park at least one parking space away from others.

There is no map for the route since we ride about 300 m to get to the base of the hill. The intention is to do a  climb at moderate effort and once we are nicely warmed up do some fun pedal pounding with a combination of fartleks and Tobatas. We'll use the return descent to recover and practise braking while maintaining control.

The ride duration should be approximately 60 to 75 minutes to be sure we leave enough in the tank for our future endeavours.

There will NOT be a tailgate gathering due to pandemic restrictions.

Training tip: come having eaten lightly about 2 hours beforehand and have a protein source such as a yogurt or chocolate milk to consume within 30 minutes of finishing.
