RIDE - LEVEL:  Intermediate

Type of Ride:  Multi Day

Coordinator:  Doug McCulloch

Pace:  Relaxed

This is a credit card tour to Penticton for five days with one day participating in a commercial tour on the famous Kettle Valley Railway.  For more on the tour check the website at Trestle Tour for prices and information.

Riders will be responsible for arranging their own transportation, accommodation and meals.

The coordinator will be staying at the Bowmont where we are attempting to arrange a special rate for members of our group.  (See further information below)

The tentative itinerary for the trip is:

June 30           Day One – Drive to Penticton

July 1               Day Two – Naramata Ride with lunch at vineyard

July 2               Day Three – Tour around Skaha Lake

July 3               Day Four – Trestle Tour

July 4               Day Five – Wine Tour either by bike or van

July 5               Day Six – Drive Home

Covid Curves:  Please check the website for the tour regarding cancellations for Covid or any other reasons as they are quite strict.  In the event that travel outside of the province is not recommended or if another ****** variant comes around, we will cancel the trip as a group event and let people decided on how they will handle their payment for the Tour day.

Deposit: $50.00 is required to hold your spot.  If you have to cancel, deposit is NOT refundable, unless a replacement participant can be found.

This will be applied to our vineyard lunch and a dinner out a nearby restaurant on Day Three.

Transportation:  Each participant will be responsible for arranging her/his own transportation as well as bike transport.  The coordinator will be driving and if there is demand, a trailer may be rented to transport bikes. E-bikes and pedal assist bikes are welcome.  Because the trestle tour is on mostly on gravel railway bed, wide tires on mountain or gravel bikes are highly recommended.

Pace:  A relaxed pace is expected.  The Naramata ride has a good climb but is fairly short.  (35km and 410m).  The Skaha Lake ride is 45km and 382m.  The Trestle Tour is 80 km and is flat or 2.2%downhill grade.  It should be noted though that the 80 km is in varied terrain so it will be a long ride.  (see website page “the route”)

Registration is limited to twelve members.

COSTS:

Rooms are being set aside at the Bowmont Motel just off the beach where you can choose from a single room with a queen bed or a room with kitchenette and two queen beds.  They have offered a discount of 15% for us if we book six or more rooms.  Single rooms are $179/night and doubles are $271. (discounted to 152 and 230 plus taxes) Note: a code to be used will be posted here Feb.2

The trestle tour early bird price is $125 plus tax (this early-bird price  is being held for EVCC members after the deadline), and the shuttle of bikes on Saturday and people on Sunday is $35 each.  Bikes will be kept in a secure location at the start.  (see Website for full details)
