Chaparral, Walden, Legacy 24

Ride Level:  Urban ride, newcomers and intermediate, easy pace

Route description:

This varied ride starts from the Chaparral shopping plaza. We wind through Chaparral Ridge and Chaparral Ravine with some views of the valley below, Chapman, Walden, and loop around Legacy with its escarpment views north. We stop for lunch at the Legacy lakes. We proceed through Walgren and the wilderness area further north, then take the winding pathway through Walden and around Chaparral Lake for the return. No hills (gain 67 m.)

Location: Chaparral shopping plaza at the northwest corner of Chaparral Boulevard SE and Chaparral Drive, just south of Stoney Trail. 

Operations

• The ride will have a sweep, employ radios, and regroup at intervals. No one will be left behind. 
• Bring lunch, snacks, and water. 
• Bring a mask and sanitizer in case of a flat, accident, or washroom use.
• Take your route recording device for more enjoyment and the possibility of leading this ride or a suitable variant next year. 
• It will be helpful if you arrive 15 minutes before the start for bike preparation, meet and greet, and a quick safety drill.
• E-Bikes are welcome.

Notification and Registration: The system will notify all my Friday events and open them for rider registration ONE week beforehand.

Non-members are welcome as guests. They must fill out the waiver on our website under the Join Us/Guest Waiver and email it to guest@elbowvalleycc.org. Members can sponsor and register one guest. Unsponsored guests will be registered as guests of the coordinator after receipt of their waivers.

Waitlist: If you find the ride filled, you are encouraged to put your name on the waitlist. The chances are that you will replace a cancellation done automatically.

Cancellation: Suppose you are signed up and find you have to cancel. Please do so as soon as you know to leave space for someone else.  Suppose it is necessary to cancel because of weather or another reason. In that case, I will notify you on this page and by Email or telephone by 8 am on the event day.
