Celebrate the highlight of the 2022 cycling season, with our first Canola Fields Fondo event, offering rides of various paces and distances along the beautiful canola farmlands of rural Alberta.

Meeting place/parking:  All road rides start/finish at Symons Valley Ranch NW parking lot. See on google:

Route: (thanks to Heather Opseth for the route design)

100 mile century ride starting at Symons Valley road in the North of Calgary. Touring through farmlands around Madden, Carstairs, and Didsbury - it is best done in late July when the Canola is in bloom.

Road surfaces: This route uses a number of secondary and tertiary roads with rougher pavement, however all is paved and roads are quiet. To make up for the rough bits, some sections have new pavement.

Hills: No mountainous climbs, however the rolling hills add up to over 1,100 metres of elevation over the ride.

Rest stops: we will stop for two short rest stops at the community centre in Madden at approximately the 40 and 125 km marks of the route. The lunch stop will be at Tim Hortons  in Didsbury at 83 km.

For shorter routes, or an intermediate pace on a similar route, please watch for our other Canola Fields Fondo ride postings in the calendar.

Apres-ride social: Join us after the ride for social in the parking lot of Symons Valley Ranch. Bring your own snacks, drinks and chairs. There is also The Beer Hall at Symons Valley that is awaiting our visit at their outdoor patio for food and refreshments (please ensure you have a designated driver for after, if needed)

Guests:  Guests are allowed on this ride.  Members - you can add non-member as your guest at the same time you register yourself.  The guest must fill out the waiver found on our website under Join Us/Guest Waiver,  then email this to Non-members:  If you are interested in joining this event as the coordinators guest, please fill out the waiver on our website under  Join Us/Guest Waiver,  then email this to:  The coordinator will then add you to the event.
