Meadowlark Trail exploratory and Ice Cream ride, Doug, 30 km

Exporatory Ride

30 Km, gravel pathway,

The Meadowbrook Trail connects the Villages of Irricana and Beiseker along a disused railway right of way and has gone through the process of being handed over to Trail-Net (Trans Canada Trail), securing funding for rebuilding bridges and finally getting the support of the County of Rockyview (despite concerns from adjacent farmers).  It is not yet official finished but almost all work is finished and people are using the trail.

This ride will start in Irricana where we can meet and park at the Community Hall in Founders Park.  We will access the trail, ride past Pioneer Acres Museum and  then along the Trail.  We cross the Rosebud River and Crossfield Creek before arriving at Beiseker.  The trail is packed gravel but you will be wanting to ride on wider tires just to be  sure.  It's only 10km to Beiseker and of course, being a railway route, it's flat but it is an exploratory ride so expected some unexpected.

Doug will show you around Beiseker where I taught, where my kids played Ringette and where some scenes from the remake of Ghostbusters Afterlife were filmed.  Then back onto the trail to ride back to Irricana for another Village tour including where I lived for many years.  Finally we'll stop for ice cream at Norm's.  The Club's picking up the tab!!!

Riders  who want to do a long ride may choose their own extension to this journey north to Acme (10KM) and on to Linden (10 KM). on reasonable quiet highway.
