ROAD RIDE - LEVEL: Intermediate/Advanced

Coordinator: Sal Faoro

Distance: 76 km

Pace: 22-25Kph

Elevation Gain: 991 m

Description: wheels roll at 10:30 am

It can sometimes get cold on Highwood Pass, so let’s ride the highest part at the warmest part of the day.

Enjoy the scenery on Highway 40, and ascend the highest paved road in Canada from the North Side. About half the ride is above the winter gate, with no cars on that section of the road (shown on map).

Please come prepared with clothing for changeable mountain weather conditions. We will be gaining significant elevation -- even on a nice day, it will be colder higher up and the long descent can be very chilly.

Parking: Start from Wedge Pond day use area there is an option to lengthen the ride to 80 Km -- it's a nice spot for a tailgate social after the ride.

Park Pass: Reminder! As of June 1, you must have a Kananaskis park pass to visit the park. See: https://www.alberta.ca/kananaskis-conservation-pass.aspx
