Exploring Winter Hike - Heart Creek Bunker

Distance and Elevation: Moderate hike, 4 kms/235 m EG

Meet: Heart Creek Bunker Trailhead - Heart Creek Parking Lot. Turnoff-Range Rd 91A (near Lac des Arcs) off Hwy 1 in Bow Valley Provincial Park at 11:00 am

***A conservation pass is required to park in the Kananaskis and Bow Valley region. Please arrive 15 mins early so we can start on time.

Must bring Micro-Spikes and hiking poles as there can be icy patches and some elevation.

A little history: This bunker was built in 1969 during Cold War era but was not completed. It was built to store Gov't documents.

The cool cave like bunker is not lit, so you will need a headlamp. (cell phone flashlights are not bright enough) Tailgate in parking lot after hike so bring a chair, snacks/lunch and water.
