Level: Intermediate and Advanced
Dates: September 10 to 14, 2026

Registration instructions
- Register now to indicate your interest in joining the trip. We will use this registration list for event planning and communication.
- If you plan to ride the Fondo, you must also register directly via their website (not through EVCC). See below. You do not need to ride the Fondo to participate in the weekend (e.g., other club rides).
- Day-by-day club rides and events will be posted in the EVCC calendar closer to the event and you will need to register for each individual ride at that time.
Trip overview
The Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo takes place on Saturday Sept. 12. Last year over 40 EVCC members participated and we’re hoping to have an even bigger showing in 2026!
On the days before and after the Fondo, we will offer club rides of varying distances and speeds, exploring the scenic, quiet roads and rail trails around Cranbrook. These will be posted in the EVCC calendar closer to the event.

The weekend also includes a lively dinner and social on Sunday evening (venue and ticket pricing to be confirmed).
This is a “pay-as-you go” trip. That means you are responsible for arranging your accommodation, paying your own costs for food and lodging, and booking your own Fondo registration.

The KRGF is a non-profit event led by the Sunrise Rotary Club of Cranbrook. They offer a well-organized event with beautiful courses, great food, and a fun and supportive atmosphere. The fondo raises funds for local charities.
There are three distance options: Piccolo (58 km), Medio (102 km), and Gran (152 km).
To learn more and to register, visit the event website: https://www.krgf.ca
For 10% off your registration fee, use our special discount code: KRGF26-4EVCC
Note, the Fondo is optional. If “racing” is not your cup of tea, you are still welcome to join us for the rest of the weekend’s rides and activities! If you’ve never ridden a Fondo before, this is a good one to try as it is a very inclusive and low-pressure event.

Accommodation
To participate in the full weekend of rides and events, plan to arrive in Cranbrook the evening of Sept. 10 and leave on Sept. 14. But we’re very flexible! If you don’t have as much time, you can come for any number of days that work for you, e.g., just Friday night to Sunday. Book early as rooms are going fast!
Elizabeth Lake Lodge: The main accommodation is Elizabeth Lake Lodge. Club activities will be based out of this location. However! As of March 2026, the Lodge is already full with returning riders. If you do not already have a room, please check out one of the other options.
Jimsmith Lake Campground: For those with tents and RVs, join the group at the beautiful Jimsmith Lake Campground, just up the road from Elizabeth Lake Lodge.
St Eugene Resort: This hotel is owned by local First Nations, and is the primary venue for the Fondo. They offer discounted rates for cyclists.
You can also stay at any other hotel or rental of your choice in town.
