Route info

Wear your red and white kit for this beautiful Canada Day route that heads into Sheep River, Kananaskis

Bring sufficient water and food for the full ride, as there are no facilities once we get into the park (between kilometres 21 and 97).

We will have a short mid-morning rest stop at Sheep River Falls on the way back down from the turnaround point (about 62 km into the ride, shown on map). If we are lucky we will get a picnic table, if not there's a lovely grassy knoll where we can meet up.

Safety comments

There's a Canada Day event at the Millarville Racetrack -- the gates open at 10 a.m., so we are starting early to hopefully get past the racetrack before the traffic builds up. The location is shown on the map. Black Diamond and Turner Valley may also be busy with Canada Day enthusiasts. The park may also get busy with holiday traffic as the day progresses, however past experience is that this region is not as busy as other parts of Kananaskis, i.e., Highway 40 and Highway 66 near Bragg Creek.

Social

Option to stop into Miss Marples in Millarville for refreshments after the ride.
