The 2026 Hay Ride Fondo!

Distance: 60 km

Elevation Gain: 673 m

Pace: 22-24 kph on level, climbing and descending at your own pace, with regrouping at key points.

E-Bikes:  Yes

Route Description:

We will ride west, then up the "Old Road to Nepal." Just before the top we go left and climb some more to the Leighton Art Center, where we break for lunch.

The view from the top, barring clouds or smoke, is amazing! There is an art museum/store, and we will take time for some browsing if anyone is interested.

There no food available at Leighton, so plan to bring your lunch.  Leighton has the only washroom along the route.

From there we drop down a long steep road (7.5%). cross the New Road to Nepal. then descend more gradually through a lovely valley.  And finally we loop around hay fields to Dewinton and back to the start.

Notes:

• Some of our route is on roads with narrow or no shoulder so a bright flashing tail light is recommended.
• Climbing gears and descending skills will be useful.
• This map is traced for cues/prompts if you care to download to your device.  But please use an earbud or keep the sound off.

Meeting place/parking: 

The starting point is Heritage Pointe Soccer Fields  gravel lot west of the shopping center off Dunbow Road. (Between the Deerfoot and the 2A.)
