Note: Suzanne is unable to make it to this ride, but I will try to conduct this ride as she normally would :)

I have had to change the route slightly to avoid some pathway ice, construction and some poorly engineered corners.  This will result in using some bicycle designated quiet roads and street cycle lanes. JCH

"For those who have barely been on their bike, let's start with a mellow, shorter ride along a relatively flat course.  We'll park at the Shouldice Athletic park, then ride east on the N side of the river.  Once it warms up, we'll return via the more shady S side, crossing back over via the Crowchild pedestrian bridge.  After we finish, we can drive to the Springbank Heritage Club Hall where there will be food, drink and a time to chat with other members."

For other routes on roads (not the pathways), please refer to our other Spring Fling ride postings in the calendar.

Apres-ride social: Plan to car pool to Springbank Heritage Club (244168 Range Road 33 Calgary, Alberta T3Z 2E7) if possible for food, beverages and conversation.

Inglewood Bird Sactuary to Elliston Park 27

Ride Level:  Urban ride, newcomers and intermediate, easy pace.

    Coordinator:  Peter Bradbury

    Route description:

We start south along the Bow River pathway. After crossing the river, we veer back north beside the irrigation canal. The route is flat except for two short, steep inclines, ridable in low gear. The first gets us to a bluff, where we rest for a whole city view. In Dover, we go through Valleyview Park and into an old, quaint neighborhood with many big trees and community paths before crossing railroad tracks into Erin Woods. The Peigan Trail, in an open wilderness country, leads us to the Rotary Mattamy Greenway and Elliston Park. Then we circle Elliston lake and stop for lunch. We head west on the 26th Avenue bikeway. On the long 17th Avenue bridge, we cross the irrigation canal and the river and return to the start on the river pathway.

    Map: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41995639

Location: Inglewood Bird Sanctuary at the east end of 9th Avenue SE. The south's approach is on the Deerfoot Trail, west on 17th Avenue, left at 19th Street, and left again onto 9th Avenue.

    Operations
